What kind of political or military alliance a sovereign and independent country chooses to join is entirely the free choice of that country and its own people. No other country has the right to interfere. This is what happened in the former Eastern European communist countries in the past twenty years. Before the disintegration of the Soviet Union, these countries had been dominated and oppressed by the Soviet communist totalitarian empire (the main body and core of which was Russia) for too long!
